Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in style, travel, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

2017 IN PHOTOS

2017 IN PHOTOS

It's December 29th and I literally cannot believe that this year is almost over and 2018 is around the corner. It's crazy how fast time is flying and I can't say that I'm a fan of it, but here we are. This year was pretty decent. I traveled, made new friends, and took more value to my time while snapping a million photos along the way.

This blog post is going to consist entirely of photos and a few captions of things I have to say about them. I personally love blog posts such as these. It's like scrolling through someone's camera roll, getting to know a little more about them and I think it's really personal and full of detail.  I'm going to go month by month and share a few of my favorite photos from the things I did and places I went. So, let's get started!

January

IMG_7814.JPG

The year started with my friend Tayla flying into Chicago for the day so we could go see the Blackhawks versus the Detroit Red Wings. She took the train herself from O'Hare Airport and then waited in my school's downtown library until I got done with class. Though it was raining and freezing outside, we still walked around the city before heading over to the United Center for the game.

These two photos were taken by my {new} friend Haley while we were spending another foggy and rainy January day exploring the city. At the time, I thought these photos were super cool.

The photo above was taken by my then-roommate, Eleni, on the first day we were both back in Chicago after break. Below, this photo was taken when my roommates and I went ice skating in Millennium Park.

This was my first time at Heritage Outpost in Uptown. There are two Heritage's in Chicago, this location being the original before the bike shop. This coffee shop is also down the street from my favorite poke store, Pokiology. So good!!

Side note: I miss that card case so much. It got lost just over a month ago with all of my cards and ID's and I'm still upset about it.

IMG_7804.JPG

The photo above and the two below are my last two games at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. I flew home for the weekend to see the Blackhawks play the Wings and then see the New York Rangers. It was bittersweet, since in high school, I spent so much time at this arena for a number of reasons. I certainly miss this old place.

I flew to New York City for an hour and a half.

And then came back to Chicago with snow that seemed like it was never going to melt. Then, a few days later, I flew to Houston, Texas for spring break and met up with my friend, Maddie, and stayed at my family's house in The Woodlands.

See how pale I was? I messed with Texas and five days later, I’m left with this sunburn.

April

IMG_7797.JPG

The start of my birthday month! On April 1st, my roommates and I went to the Field Museum and then a couple days later, on a typical rainy April day, my sisters took the train in from Michigan to stay with me for the weekend.

Then, we ended up at Alliendes, of course.

Since my birthday was on a Wednesday, I went home the following weekend for Easter.

One of my favorite outfits to date. Now, I have no idea where those pants went.

May

IMG_7790.JPG

These first three pictures are when my friend Marie came to visit. It doesn't look like it, but it was wicked cold for being the first weekend in May. Also, very windy, which is expected, then again not really.

I went home again the following weekend for Mother's Day and my dad's birthday. The picture below is of Central Kitchen + Bar, one of the cutest restaurants in downtown Detroit right by Campus Martius. The food was fantastic!!!

The picture above was the start of a very long day and a very quick trip to Minnesota in the middle of the week. I started in Michigan, flew back to Chicago, went to one class, then went back to the airport to fly to Minnesota. All in a matter of 8 hours.

IMG_7785.JPG

Upon arrival in Minnesota, Tayla, took me straight to the Prince mural in Minneapolis, since he is one of my all-time favorite artists. It was pretty much an out of body experience. Below was the reason I went to Minnesota in the first place, to see The 1975 in St. Paul. Yet another out of body experience since we were front row and I literally took that picture with my phone.

Right here is the first new country of 2017! I headed off to Ireland to study abroad for ten days and see the country. First stop, Dublin.

I won't go too into detail about my trip to Ireland since I did a whole post about it - which you can read here - but below here are a few of my favorite photos from Doolin and the Cliffs of Moher.

After my study abroad trip, I went back to Dublin and stayed with Maddie, who's family lives in the city. This photo is my look from afternoon tea at The Westin Dublin.

And after Ireland was another new country: England! Maddie and I got an Airbnb and stayed in London for 3 days before I headed back to the States. The city was absolutely amazing and I hope to be back in late 2018, we'll see! Meanwhile, you can read about my London recap here.

We got to see Big Ben just before the construction got moving which was a bonus! We were also some of the last people to hear her bong before they shut it down for the next 4 years.

July

The month of July was spent relaxing and on my family boat. I did make it to Comerica Park to see the Detroit Tigers play the Houston Astros on a Friday night.

August

August again was nothing too special, just more relaxing before heading back to Chicago. Here are some photos that you may have already seen on my Instagram feed.

September

The picture above was the first day of classes and it was maybe in the low 70's, but I took that as the perfect opportunity to break out my leather jacket for the season.

These four photos are from Preference Tea and Bid Day from recruitment! It was such a fun time and was so exciting to welcome in our new pledge class!

Then a surprise guest!! Mackenzie stopped into the city for the night since her flight was Monday night instead of Sunday. So obviously, we went to brunch at Restoration Hardware instead of class.

IMG_7762.JPG

I flew home again for the weekend to see the preseason game of the Wings and Blackhawks at the brand new Little Caesars Arena! The new arena is gorgeous, and I feel utterly spoiled each time I go to a game. Read my Michigan recap here.

The following weekend I was in another new city: Atlanta, Georgia. Maddie and I met up for a very important date. But first, here we are at the Coca-Cola Museum in downtown ATL.

IMG_7759.JPG

I wrote a blog post about Atlanta that you can find right here.

That very important date? Harry Styles: Live On Tour. One of the best shows ever.

Back in Chicago

Back in Chicago

When I got back from Georgia, I spent the next weekend at the SoHo House in Chicago. Allis Chicago was a beautiful and it's open to the public, so I think everyone should make a stop in.

I'm decked out in BASIL and I have a post that gives my followers a discount. Check it out here.

November

IMG_7751.JPG

November was easy and started at LondonHouse in downtown. Haley and I hung out all day in her mom's hotel room and watched Mindhunter.  Then we headed to Maison Marcel in Lakeview and paid a lot of money for mediocre smoothies. At least the photos were cute, so it was worth it?

This was the final night in Chicago before we headed back to our respected homes of Michigan and California. We had Shake Shack and went to Sephora and walked up and down Michigan Avenue. And if you couldn't tell, Haley and I spent literally every waking moment together this term. More to come in 2018!!!

This was just last weekend in Toronto, Ontario. I got to see one of my favorite cities during my favorite time of year. It was the perfect last quick trip of 2017. Read more here

Lastly, here's me at one venue of my future work. I definitely peaked during this trip.

To end the year, I'm writing this from Bellaire, Michigan in a cabin in the woods with my family from Texas. I'm not sharing photos from this trip in this blog post since there is already so many, but check out my Instagram to see the gorgeous scenery.

And with that, here's to 2018!
